Care of your newly laid turf
Delivery
- Turf needs to be delivered the day before you are ready to lay it.
- Turf is cut fresh just before collection
First Two Weeks
- Turf needs to be constantly moist 24/7 for the first 2 weeks (Sprinkler recommended).
- In the case of a hosepipe ban, you are allowed to use a hosepipe for up to 28 days of receiving new turf.
- Avoid walking on turf during the first two weeks.
Mowing
- After 2 weeks, mow, but not too short the first couple of times.
- We recommend to mow your turf frequently when growing, never short and never to allow to grow long.
- A recommended height is about an inch for everyday use.
Long-Term Care
- From three months after purchasing turf, it is advisable to feed your lawn every spring and autumn (follow instructions carefully to avoid damaging grass).
- Also to treat for weeds to keep them at bay.
- To avoid an infestation of leather jackets, we advise to treat your lawn every autumn with Nematodes. These can be bought online.
- If you see any evidence of your garden starting to deteriorate please treat with Nematodes ASAP if conditions allow. They usually start on the outside and work their way in. For more information on Leather Jackets and Nematodes please see relevant page.
